In a sense this election brings into play a number of aspects of Democratic life that got lost over the last 40 years. Equality and peoples rights, especially women are in the forefront along with confronting the preponderance of monopolies that have accelerated inflation. In addition, confronting the Reagan Supply Side Trickle Down economic policies that have created much of the angst at the worker level and on which the MAGA movement fed.
Teddy Roosevelt, over 100 years ago, in two terms of the Presidency, ran on some core values that are much like what we see evolving in a Harris-Walz Presidency,
This election has brought about a lot of polling anxiety, the stuff that keeps Nate Silver up all night adjusting his models. In reality what we are seeing is more a cultural event than an election. Any pollster that is looking to 2016 or 2020 for a baseline is missing the point. To be correct, the first thing a pollster would have to do is completely start over on the weightings of sample groups.
Neil Howe may be correct; this could be the Fourth Turning. I think when the sociologists analyze this election it will be apparent that Trump lost the race the second Biden pulled out. The culture forced out Biden, because he was from another time. And Tuesday will show Trump was from another time also.
And to top it off Harris-Walz have run a campaign of excellence.
